Run Club at Ball State
#WeRunBSU
Formally Ball State Runners' Association
We meet at 4 PM Monday-Friday inside the front doors of Lewellen pool off of McKinley Avenue. If it is nice you’ll see us out in front on the sidewalk or grass! We leave by 4:10, so if you get out of class at 4:00 you DO have time to make it. Club is completely participatory, so you may come and go as you like, though we encourage you to come as often as you can!
Any and everybody can run with us; we have all levels of fitness and speed. People train for track races, 5K'S, 8K's, half-marathons, and/or full marathons, and some just run for fitness or fun! Our club offers a great opportunity for those who like regularly scheduled daily exercise as well as those with a competitive nature.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are regular run days. Members divide into groups based on mileage or pace; the casual group will run from ~1-2 miles, the shorter group may run ~3-4.5 miles, while the longer group may run ~5-6 miles. Friday's runs are followed by ultimate frisbee or wallyball.
Wednesdays are track/XC workout days. Workouts vary, including road tempos, intervals in the neighborhoods, and repeats on the trails.
We run rain or shine! Cold weather, despite what your parents may say, doesn't freeze your lungs and it is impossible to get a cold from the cold weather. Also, our bodies are better adapted for heat dissipation than any other animal on this planet and it is completely feasible to run in very hot weather once acclimated. In other words, we were born to run!
